Notes: what gets written fast and does not get lost
Not everything you write is a formal document. Notes are for what is written in the moment — an idea, a number from a call, a reminder — and they stay attached to their context instead of ending on a desk sticky.
Steps
- Create a quick note during the call or the meeting.
- Attach it to the client, project or task it concerns.
- Review your notes at the end of the day and turn whatever deserves follow-up into a task with an owner and a date.
Worth knowing
- A note you never review is worthless. Make reviewing them the last five minutes of your day.
- Write during the call, not after it. Half of what is postponed to after hang-up is forgotten.
